Our curriculum

At St Clare's Pre School, we embrace the 'In the moment planning' approach. This empowers children to take a lead in their own play and learning. Our staffs roles are to observe, support and provide resources and experiences based on the child's expressed interests. We find this more effective than pre-planning activities months in advance. When children generate their own ideas, the learning process becomes richer, more meaningful and more engaging for them. As children's deep engagement occurs when they pursue their own interests, we strive to create an environment where children can explore their passion.

The benefits

This approach provides staff with more time to interact with and understand each child individually, fostering stronger attachments. Reduced paperwork allows more time for quality interactions which helps children to develop greater confidence as learners.

Free-flow opportunity

St Clare's Pre School implements a free-flow policy enabling children to explore both indoor and outdoor environments at their discretion. Our observations consistently demonstrate childrens enthusiastic engagement in activities such as splashing in puddles, bug hunting on the school field, cooking up something tasty in the mud kitchen or even building a snowman on a cold winters day.
